Statewide Nevada Day Activities for the Week
State Museums Are Planning Unique Nevadan Experiences to Celebrate Nevada Day
(Nevada, USA) Every seven years or so, Nevada Day falls on the actual anniversary date of the statehood, October 31. As a state holiday, it’s a good time for residents to visit and connect with their Silver State heritage at the State Museums. Here is a list of all the activities planned around the holiday weekend.
Southern Nevada
Boulder City, Nevada:
The Nevada State Railroad Museum, Boulder City is offering free train rides for children ages 17 and under on Friday, October 31, Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2. Adult tickets are $12. Trains depart Boulder City at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Friday, and 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The museum is located at 601 Yucca Street.

Las Vegas, Nevada:
On Nevada Day, October 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas will host Nevada-themed activities with organizational partners inside the Museum. A new exhibit “The New Deal in the New West: On the Road in Nevada with Arthur Rothstein” is open to the public. The museum is located on the Springs Preserve at 309 South Valley View Boulevard, and the admission to both is free on Nevada Day.

Overton, Nevada:
On Nevada Day, October 31, Lost City Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults 18+ and free for children 17 & under. The museum is located at 721 S. Moapa Valley Blvd., Overton.

Northern Nevada
Carson City, Nevada:
The Nevada State Railroad Museum will be offering free admission on Nevada Day, October 31, and the following day, November 1, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. As a special Nevada Day weekend treat, the museum will be operating the V&T No. 25 with the first train leaving at 10:00 a.m. and the last one leaving at 3:00 p.m. Fares are: $12 ages 12 and over; $6 ages 4-11; and free for museum members and ages three and under. The Nevada State Museum, Carson City, located at 600 North Carson Street, will be offering free admission on Nevada Day, October 31 and the following day, November 1, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be Coin Press No. 1 minting demonstrations and interpretive talks in the historic Mint from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, vouchers for half ounce .999 fine silver planchets will be sold in the Museum Store starting at 11:00 a.m.

Reno, Nevada:
The Nevada Historical Society building is still closed to the public for construction, however, the “On the GO!” program is hostinga talk, “Life Backstage…what could possibly go wrong?” by local historian and former performer Christina Schlosser on Saturday, November 1, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Sierra View Library inside the Reno Town Mall, 4001 S Virginia St, Reno, NV 89502. She will share behind the scenes stories from her entertainment career.
