Pollinator Palooza
Hands-on fun inspired by the tiny creatures with a big job
Soak up a summer day at Pollinator Palooza, perfect for families and curious kids of all ages! Enjoy local vendors, food trucks, and refreshing lemonade while bee-ing immersed in the world of pollinators through interactive activities and crafts. Kids can buzz through six science stations, collecting stamps in their Pollinator Passport to earn a special prize.
- Pollinator puppet show
- Seed bombs (take them home to plant in your own garden!)
- Flower-smelling & paper-flower craft
- Beekeeping demonstration (does not feature real bees)
- Bees under the microscope
- Curator’s Corner with George Baumgardner, Natural History Curator (look at real specimens and learn about different pollinators)

9:30am Stroller decorating contest (bring a decorated stroller, wagon, etc. for a chance to
win a prize)
10am Parade
11:30am Waggle dance (follow along and learn how bees communicate through
movement)
12–2pm Science stations
2pm Closing ceremony
As part of National Pollinator Month, we’re celebrating Carson City’s exciting designation as a Bee City USA affiliate—an initiative led by The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation to help communities support pollinators through education and habitat creation.
