Learn about the region’s snakes Sept. 30 in Carson City

CARSON CITY, Nevada — Learn about the snakes of northwestern Nevada Wednesday (Sept. 30) at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St. in Carson City. George Baumgardner, curator of natural history, will offer brief demonstrations starting at 1 p.m. and repeated until 3 p.m. on Wednesday for visitors passing through the museum’s demonstration gallery. Find out what these snakes eat, how big they get, and which of the 14 to 15 types of snakes in the region is the most commonly seen.

Museum admission is required: $8, free for children ages 17 and younger. All visitors and staff must wear a face covering while in the museum and maintain 6 feet of distance from others. Acrylic barriers are in place at the admissions desk, in the store and in the demonstration gallery to protect visitors.
