During the 70s and 80s jazz was alive in Virginia City, NV at the Silver Stope. Owner and renowned jazz pianist Merle Koch performed and encouraged his fellow jazz musicians to perform.
Along with Scot Marshall (bass), Rocky Tatarelli (sax), and Mark Ashworth drums), John Shipley, an innovative jazz pianist, conductor, arranger, songwriter, producer, and recording artist, will discuss Merle Koch’s impact on jazz and perform to illustrate the musical styles.
Doors open at 6:30 pm lecture starts at 7:00pm.
