Description

In honor of Veteran’s Day we will be hosting a special exhibit in the concourse Wednesday, Nov 10th until the end of the year.

“Through Our Eyes” debuted in 2018 as part of the Reno Artown festival; it’s a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) “My Life, My Story” program, in which VA staff and volunteers conduct interviews with veterans and write short narratives of their lives. The women interviewed for the exhibit were in the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System. Since its creation, the exhibit has been displayed at the Nevada Legislature, the National Judicial College on the University of Nevada, Reno campus and other locations around the state. Click here for more information about the exhibit.

“Hosting this exhibit at the museum is an honor, and I hope our visitors have a chance to take in the stories of these American heroes,” Myron Freedman, director of the Nevada Division of Museums and History, said. “They represent the generations of women who have serviced our armed forces with grit and dedication.”

The museum is at 600 N. Carson St. in Carson City. Museum hours are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Face coverings must be worn inside the museum by all visitors. Regular museum admission is $10 adults and free for members and children ages 17 and younger.
