Description
The Nevada State Museum is recruiting for new volunteers who enjoy Nevada history. If you’re a lifelong learner and enjoy Nevada history, this is a great opportunity to join the team and increase your knowledge. Come share your enthusiasm for history with others while helping the Nevada State Museum fulfill its mission to connect visitors to Nevada stories and culture. The Nevada State Museum was voted one of Nevada’s Best Museums in 2018 by readers of Nevada Magazine! Tour Guides at the Nevada State Museum learn about Nevada’s unique natural and cultural history and lead tours of the museum and the Capitol building. They also get a behind the scenes look at the museum’s vast collection.
Training includes four 6 hour days; Monday, February 25th, Tuesday, February 26th, Monday, March 4th and Tuesday, March 5th from 9:00 am-4:00 pm. This training will highlight Stewart Indian School, Nevada State Railroad Museum, and plans for our celebration of the Mint Building’s sesquicentennial in 2020. New volunteers will be given a comprehensive tour of the museum and collections centers, as well as a tour guide handbook. Existing volunteers will learn about what’s new at the museum and upcoming programs.
The training is free and comes with a tour guide handbook and name tag. Space is limited, so reserve a spot by contacting the Nevada State Museum Education Department at nsmeducatio@nevadaculture.org or (775)687-4810 ext 237. New volunteers will need to complete a new volunteer application. For more information check http://carsonnvmuseum.org/volunteer-opportunities/
