Description

Join us for a ballroom dance event casting back to the WWI era, and learn about some little known WWI history.

When the American Expeditionary Force went to France during WWI so did the Salvation Army and other service organizations. They ran Canteens or Huts where doughboys (American GIs) could get some comforts of home during the hardships of war. This often took the form of music entertainment and treats, such as donuts, pie, hot chocolate, coffee and lemonade. There will be a short presentation by Capt. Leslie Cyr of the Salvation Army, a beginner’s dance lesson teaching the popular dances of the era (waltz, foxtrot and tango), followed by a ballroom dance social with WWI canteen refreshments from Zucker Mini Donuts.

Thank you to Tiffany Alm of Yaples Ballroom Dance and Capt. Leslie Cyr of the Salvation Army for contributing to this program.

Cost:  $8 for adults; free for museum members and ages 17 and under.

Seating is limited; to reserve your seat click on the Register Here button to the right.
